Rei Karate Do Places Third at Ontario Open 2025
Rei Karate Do proudly brought home third place overall at the prestigious Ontario Open 2025 International Open Karate Championship, marking a powerful milestone for our growing dojo and community.
With a team of nearly 20 students — ranging from age 8 to 46 — we stood shoulder to shoulder with almost 400 athletes from 34 schools across Ontario, Quebec, the United States, and Nepal. Our students competed in both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) divisions, displaying the spirit, discipline, and unity that define what we do at Rei Karate Do.

This tournament was the first-ever competition experience for many of our students. Despite this, our team earned dozens of medals across multiple age categories. Our competitors trained hard, showed respect, and brought home results that speak for themselves.

A Dojo on the Rise
Rei Karate Do may be one of the newer dojos in the tournament scene, but we are growing fast. Placing third among seasoned schools, many with international experience, is proof that our training approach, community support, and cultural foundation are working.
At Rei Karate Do in Barrie, we teach karate with a deep respect for its Japanese roots, blending physical discipline with language, tradition, and mindset. Our students don’t just learn how to fight — they learn where karate comes from and what it stands for.
